Making Chants: Enjoy the Cheers

ABMA 151 (3rd place)

* Cheers and Chants or Chants and Cheers; Cheers, Chants; Chants and Cheers,* (tongue twist? honestly I don’t know what comes first that’s why I made the tongue twister… but anyway, its all the same..   ) This is one of the English Term’s competition, launched by English Department, at Asia Pacific College. For this month, its time for the School of Multimedia Arts (SoMA) and School of Engineering (SoE) to conquer the stage.

The program is hosted by Prof. Nomer Yuzon who also sung for his intermission number. (I was amazed when he started to sing. I never thought that he has a charming voice because as far as I can remember, he told us that he don’t sing nor dance. Anyway lets go back on our topic) The first school that performed are the SoMA student followed by the SoE.

CPE 151 (2nd place)

Each group has its own way to amuse the audience especially the judges. Some use led lights and glow in the dark for their costumes. Others use banners and ribbons (the one which is being use at gymnastics) that gave a nice impact for the audience. They also use flash cards that symbolized their block. But above all this gimmicks, for me, cooperation and unity is the best weapon to win.

In the end, ECE 151 win the game. They are followed by the CPE 151 (2^nd place) and ABMA 151 ( 3rd place)

Everyone (I guess) enjoyed the competition. I realize that chants and cheers isn’t that bad because at the end of the day I enjoyed it. After the competition, I noticed that I was the only one who still manage to be happy despite of the fact that we lose (once again). In fact I can’t help to laugh with their reaction. Don’t get me wrong… I just observed something that so unusual, for me. I just noticed that ‘they’ (known to be an outgoing and cheerful persons) seem to forget the word FUN because of this word, PRIDE.

Another thing… isn’t it ironic that we lose because we thought, we are going to win? Honestly, I really had this feeling that we are going to lose because of this PRIDE. How did I say so? The bible told me…

“But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resist the proud, but gives grace to the humble””

I’m not that religious kind of person but this verses really caught my attention because it seems to be true. I always encounter such situation that can prove this, like what happen to us. Anyway those are just my insights. So to make the long story short, I think the best way to do is to keep quiet, stay humble and just enjoy every moment. Cheer up and let God handle everything. Just like what they said “He has His own plan, better than we can imagine,”
