Plagiarism

source:google

*Copy* *Paste*… *Copy* *Paste*, two basic skills we use to create a project especially when we cram. Easy, right? But did you know that in every detail that you copy is equivalent to a crime. It is called plagiarism and yes, just like other crimes it has consequences.

According to Mr. Webster (Merriam Webster Dictionary), “Plagiarism is the act of using another person’s words or ideas without giving credit to that person.” For me, it is still a thievery.

Plagiarism is what is “in” nowadays. You already plagiarize when you copy some details with same structures. Without giving credits as if it is yours. Changing words doesn’t mean you are safe not to be called plagiarizing. It still defines plagiarism. Some people may say that they are just looking for source, but then they don’t realize that they copied the entire ideas. Even in borrowing quotations from various people, you can commit plagiarism. Especially when you don’t put quotation marks, don’t credit the person who originally delivered it and for some instances, you credit it to someone else.

Just like other crimes, plagiarism has consequences. Once you are caught plagiarizing, you have to pay fines or you will end up to jail for 1-10 years. If you are a student, it may lead you to expulsion. As well as the employees, they may lose their job too. Not all consequences are according to law. As simple as “Cause and Effect”, if you plagiarize then you will lose your CREDIBILITY as a person or in your career.
